How Different Modalities and Techniques are Similar

Original Post: Here.

How different modalities and techniques actually achieve an outcome in the same way. We are continuously picking up information from the environment. Where is the floor? Is it hot? Is it cold? Am I hungry? Am I in danger? AKA Input. We decipher the information and make meaning out of it. This can be conscious or subconscious. After that, we create the output we think is necessary. This is obviously done much quicker in real time. AKA output. So when you receive a session. The therapist provides some sort of input via a technique, their words, presence, tone of voice etc. You make meaning of it. You then create a response that you see fit. E.g. your hip doesn’t seem to move as smoothly as you’d like it to. Your therapist works together with you to do some hip articulations and challenge your range of movement. Your body senses that you need to move you hip. It then recalibrates and makes the necessary changes to allow for the movement you want as you keep moving. Of course there’s a lot more to this, but this is how it is in super simplified terms. I’ll talk more about specific techniques and how they truly work in the future. Like how your chiro doesn’t put your spine back into place. Imagine if they did, how easily would they be able to put it out of place then?
